The last couple of weeks have been pretty slow progress for me as far as getting the Asp upgraded to be the Apex Predator it can be. Between work and being sick, I haven’t gotten a lot of time in the black. But last night afforded me the opportunity to make some cash. I’m just north of 5.6 million again and looking to upgrade my either thrusters or shields first.

Between my solo hunting and flying in what I’m calling the Hammer Wing, I brought my total war chest up over 12 million this weekend.
Ultimately I want to save up enough to buy a Fer-de-Lance. Is it the biggest ship in Elite? No. Is it the best? That’s subjective. None of that really matters to me. For me…it’s the look. It’s like a space Corvette. It just looks cool as hell. And I wants it.
I’ve put a good amount of money into my Viper. I have the best version of anything that makes sense. So my current ship is pretty much as good as it’s going to get.
I’m looking at the Asp Explorer. And it’s expensive…the stock ship will burn through half of my reserves at 6 million. Outfitting it will have to come gradually as it’ll cost more than I have to put the comparable top grade components that I’m accustom to having. I’m also reading that repairs and maintenance for the Asp are pretty high.
If I go this route, I’m not trading in my Viper to offset the cost. Mostly because I know I can make good money with that ship and the load-out I have on it. Plus if things go way south and I get myself into a position where I can’t afford the rebuy cost of the Asp, I have a way to make some decent money.
The Asp is also more versatile than the Viper. With a few part swaps, I can turn it from a bounty hunter to an explorer with a 30+ jump range. Or a trader that can haul just as much as a Type-6.
So this is my dilemma. Do I skip all this and continue bounty hunting with my Viper? Or do I basically reset my fundraising thermometer back to 0 and jet around in an Asp?
What would you do?
I played through the first 10 or so missions of Homeworld 2 Remastered. I had never really done the single player thing when the game first came out back in the day. I was pretty amazed at how RTSes can build suspense with the AI.

Here’s what I played over the past week.
- Homeworld 2 (PC)
- Star Wars: Battlefront (PS4)
It’s been a busy week at work and it doesn’t look like it’s going to let up soon. That may not affect gaming when I’m off, but it sure wipes out my focus to type stuff up…
Case in point, there’s a Homeworld post I owe you guys from last Friday. I’ll try to get to it soon. I don’t want this to turn into every other blog where I go from posting regularly to once a month…to never…
At the very least, I’ll have my weekly update…but I want it to be more.
What are you playing?! Doesn’t have to be space related!
Here’s what I played last week!
- Elite: Dangerous
- Space Engineers
- Star Citizen
That’s right. I now have Star Citizen. I picked up one of the discounted starter packages sold for the release anniversary. I wasn’t able to get a lot of play time on it. I’m still working through the basic tutorial. Having a hard time getting adjusted to the control scheme and my joystick seems to be a little bit more unforgiving in SC than it is in Elite. Unless I can figure out how to configure the deadzone in SC, I might have to go keyboard and mouse for it.
Regardless, it’s a pretty gorgeous game and I’m excited seeing all the 2.0 PTU stuff that’s happened over the past week. It’s going to be huge when it’s done.
Have any questions about these games? Have a suggestion for something I should look at? Let a note in the comments!
